| DIRECTOR'S NOTES: Psycho Somatic was my first foray into sci-fi. I discovered this script through Inktip.com and in the process met the acquaintance of Daniel J.W. Hughes. Daniel is a talented writer who specializes in sci-fi. So the challenge here as it was with Edison City was to make things look like they're taking place in the future. Or at least adjust the dialogue and camera shots so the viewer can suspend disbelief and go along for the ride. I did some visual experiments with the look of this short, adjusting shutter speeds, using different color palettes. Shelby looks positively radiant in some scenes. Psycho Somatic is available on a view video on demand sites. You can check them out below. |
| PLOT: A distraught widow (Shelby Barendrick) decides to sample her late husband's (Richard Poche) memories. By ingesting a microchip, she is able to sample what he's seen and re-live happier times. She soon finds out, however, that her loving husband isn't what she thought he was. |
