"You did it, Kevin! You did it!"
HILARIOUS!

Kevin Hart, a high school lineman out of Fernley, Nevada has found his true calling without even realizing it.

He should claim his destiny and become a Hollywood screenwriter. He has created one of the most bizarre and fanciful stories in the history of high school recruiting...And that is quite a feat.

You see, Hart got caught in an elaborate lie that saw over 1,000 people show up for his announcement that he had selected Cal over Oregon. He convinced anyone who was listening that both schools were diligently wooing him for his offensive line skills. He would then be the first student from Fernley High to be given a highly prized athetlic scholarship Division 1 scholarship. Two local TV stations showed up and waited with bated breath as Hart had two baseball caps positioned in front of him. One cap was Cal, the other Oregon....

And then, with a dramatic reach of his arm...Kevin...chose...CAL!!

To thunderous applause.

"They really sold me," Hart said. "Coach Tedford and I talked a lot, and the fact that the head coach did most of the recruiting of me gave me the real personal experience."
"I told Coach Tedford 'I don't care if you don't want me, I'm yours!!'"
Just one problem...

None of the schools had ever heard of him.

"I wanted to play D-I ball more than anything. When I realized that wasn't going to happen, I made up what I wanted to be reality," read a statement sent out by Teri White, assistant superintendent of the Lyon County School District, on behalf of Hart. "I am sorry for disappointing and embarrassing my family, coaches, Fernley High School, the involved universities and reporters covering the story."

Still, I can't imagine anyone in authority not at least questioning Hart a little bit. Not out of skepticism so much as just plain curiosity, particularly the coach.

Surely if he had indeed been recruited by Cal, Oregon or any other Division I school, it isn't something that is done clandestinely. They HAVE to make their presence known and there would have been a buzz around the campus.

"The recruiters are here....The recruiters are here..."

This has all the workings of a great screenplay. I mean what if Hart had pulled this stunt to show the gullibility of everyone around him..To show how in today's society athletic achievement trumps anything and everything academic....Nah...After looking at his pictures I serious doubt he has that kind of intelligent mischievousness.

Nontheless, this story gave me one of the best laughs I've had in a long time.. And for this I thank all involved :)
